Davis lately...

It doesn't come any cuter than this love bug :) 

Davis is at such a fun age. I think I keep saying that but it is so true. I am trying so hard to keep track of some of the funny things he has said lately to help me remember (this blog is my baby book).

Davis has been doing a pretty good job of staying in his bed. Every morning I know he is headed to our room when I start hearing "thump, thump, thump." This is him coming down on his butt down each stair :) I have taught him that when he comes in our room he has to shut the door behind him. So if you somehow managed to sleep through him coming down the stairs-the door slamming behind him as he enters our room will take care of that!

On Saturdays he and Jason head to Starbucks. Last Saturday he crawled in bed with us and then Jason declared it was time for them to go. He was about to crawl off the bed when he told Jason "just a minute" crawled back over to me and said "Good Morning Mommy!" kissed my face and then headed off the bed to go with Jason. As they were leaving I heard him tell Jason "Daddy, I have an idea let's wear our pajamas to Starbucks!"

Jason took Davis with him on an errand to a warehouse where they had bulldozers. As Davis spotted them he said "Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness daddy! That is so cool." He loves to say "oh my goodness!"

He also has started adding "something" to the end of sentences. I find this hilarious. So he might say "maybe we could go to the zoo or something."

He is growing up way too fast!

34 Weeks

This pregnancy is flying along. I keep wanting time to slow down! I know she will be here soon enough and I am just trying to soak in our last few weeks as a family of three.  We had a fun session at our house to celebrate (I am actually 32 weeks in these pictures) and the very talented Stephanie from http://www.simplycharmedphotography.com/ took the photos. She is amazing if you need a photographer. 

 My monster. I love this little boy so much. I know he is going to be an amazing big brother. He has to kiss Carter good-bye every morning. He also loves to tell Carter about his day or about fun things they will do together when she comes out of mommy's tummy. If I ask Davis whose baby is in mommy's tummy-he always replies "that's my baby!"

SU Football is Back!

Southwestern has not had a football team since the 1960s. They recently decided to  bring football back to campus. Jason and I purchased our tickets and decided to go up for the first game. We headed up first thing Saturday morning. It made me so happy to see this sign:

We had not been back to Georgetown in almost eight years so it was CRAZY to see all the changes to the town. We used to have a grocery store and a small Wal-Mart. Now there are shopping centers, tons of restaurants and a Super Wal-Mart, they are moving up!

It was on this very spot below fourteen years ago that Jason and I had the "DTR" talk and decided to try dating! I guess that worked out pretty well for us....

 I have to say that Southwestern has one of the prettiest college campuses in the country.

 Here I am outside my freshmen dorm. It is co-ed now which seems so wrong. I think the guys should be stuck in the crappy dorms!

 When we first pulled up to campus there was a huge group of frat guys out front partying. There was a nasty couch out in the front yard. I am pretty sure it was the same couch Jason partied on, sick. Anyway, I asked Jason if he wanted to join in but he politely declined.

 The conference is totally different then when I played there. I think our conference was so much better back then. We had to do so much more traveling which made it more fun.

 We shopped the square and then headed to the big game. We could not get over the crowd, it was awesome. We were so proud of all the alumni that showed up to support the Pirates.

Davis loved the football game and loved cheering on the Pirates. He made it all the way through the third quarter.

It was a wonderful trip down memory lane. It was fun reminiscing about all the fun times we had and sharing them with Davis (well most of them)!

Big Brother Week: Day 5 and 6

I researched the science museum because I thought Davis might get a kick out of seeing the Dinosaurs. I took him to the one in Sugarland because it seemed to be a little more kid friendly. Honestly, it was a little disappointing. They had a very small dinosaur exhibit and their "dig pit" was a little lame. However, that didn't seem to spoil Davis' fun at all. The only thing he was clearly disappointed about was that the dinosaurs didn't roar!

 The saving grace of the museum was the ball pit:

 We literally had the museum to ourselves for the first hour. We even got to pick the movie they played in the blow up planetarium because we were the only patrons. We picked the Sesame Street movie (of course) but even that was fairly boring. Randomly, while Davis was enjoying the jump between the ball pit and the dig pit another little boy and his mom showed up. Turns out the mom and I were born on the exact same day and her son and Davis were the same age. They really hit it off and we ended up following them to McDonalds for lunch so the boys could keep playing.

Davis refused to take a nap because he knew what our late afternoon entailed. Wonderwild! Davis was so pumped to go with his buddy Garrett to Wonderwild. That place is the perfect spot for three year old boys with lots of energy who don't like to sit still.

Davis had no trouble falling asleep at the end of the day. Of course, he came walking into our room this morning at 4:30 and asked if he could sleep with us. Then promptly rolled over at a little after 6:30 to say "Good Morning Mommy! Can we get up?" This child does not sleep in!

Both of us were pretty exhausted today. We watched a lot of Elmo and snuggled on the couch. We ventured out for lunch (look how tired he looks):

Then came home where he slept FOREVER. We were supposed to head to the pool today but neither of us had the energy. Jason picked up pizza and we had football and pizza instead. We gave him a scooter that he was totally pumped about. I told him that Carter got it for him but he later told me "mommy, I think you got that for me, not Carter" 

At dinner tonight I told Davis that I didn't want to go back to work on Monday and Davis said "awww, mommy, you want to hang out with me?!" He also had to tell Jason all about Wonderwild again, saying "Mommy, what is that place called again?" I said "Wonderwild" and without missing a beat Davis said "yeah, daddy Garrett and I were at Wonderwild and they have a giant alligator." He is becoming such a conversationalist. We have had so many wonderful little conversations about the world around us this week. This week off is a week I will treasure for the rest of my life. It also confirmed that I have a high energy, full of life, happy three year old!

Big Brother Week: Day 3 and 4

Day three we headed to the dentist. This was something that needed to get done but I hated to take a day off to do it-so it fit perfectly into Big Brother Week. He was actually so excited to go and we re-read the Bernstein Bears book about ten times that morning.

 Davis was such a big boy! When they came to get him he went back all by himself and left me in the lobby. They brushed his teeth, took x-rays and did a full exam without me ever walking back there-so brave.

 He was really proud to show me his spiderman sunglasses he got to wear:

 After the dentist we headed to daddy's work to surprise him. We visited his office and then took him to lunch:

 Then we headed home for nap time. I guess Davis was really tired because he slept for nearly three hours!

 When he woke up we headed to Madpotter to do some painting together. I wanted him to pick out a piggy bank so that he could start saving money for our upcoming trip to Disney. He picked out the rocket ship and never wavered-"Mommy, I want the rocket ship please!"

 When Jason got home from work we headed over to Uncle D's to swim and finish out day three!

So by day four we were both a little worn out! So we stayed in our jammies a little longer and played trains, trains and more trains! When the sprinklers in the backyard went on Davis asked if he could go play in them. Of course! This is big brother week!

 We played at the house until lunchtime. We then picked up chick fil a and headed back to Uncle D's for a picnic lunch and swimming.

 Another long nap was followed by baking some cookies for daddy:
