Valentine's Day and Other Stuff

We had a happy heart day thanks to our two Valentines. Carter sported her Valentines jammies...

Last Friday we headed out with our Sesame Street gang to see Elmo Live again! This was our third year and this was the first time that Davis was spooked by the show. He was terrified that there would be fireworks at the end of the show and so I spent a lot of the time convincing him there would be no fireworks. I have no idea where he got the idea that there would be fireworks at the show.

Ladybug came to Uncle Bubbi's house for a visit and got to meet Carter

Davis skipped school one day last week and we hit up the Children's museum. Trying to take a selfie with a baby and a 4 year old is a little difficult!

For Valentine's Day I made Davis a Ninja Turtles shirt and bought him a few other goodies including a Pete the Cat book. He loves Pete the Cat. He has the entire Pete the Cat shoes book memorized. Listening to him reading it is the cutest thing ever.

He was so proud of the shirt. When I initially showed it to him he gasped out loud-it made my work on it worth it! He then told me he was going to take it off at lunch so that it would not get dirty for his party. He was so concerned he would mess it up!  He has the cutest personality and has been saying some really funny things. In the car the other day Jason hit the brakes and he said "hey! what's the big idea?" and after getting my car wash he noticed there was still some dirt and remarked that "that is ridiculous!". Oh brother.

I have used maternity leave to do a few other sewing projects. I finished one of Carter's dresses for Disney:
I made her a onesie for Valentine's day too
And have been playing with some new fonts:
Hope you had a happy heart day.

Carter 2 Months

My sweet girl turned two months old last week. This mommy is having a hard time with the fact that maternity leave is quickly coming to an end. I know I am not ready to leave my sweet girl after spending the last few months loving on her.

All the new babies at our church get their own star on the wall. I found Carter's star on the wall and snapped a photo. My favorite thing about the wall was that the majority of the stars belonged to our friends from Sunday School--all girls! We nearly took up the whole wall!

I finally received Carter's newborn photos and I love them. I cannot wait to blow them up and hang them all over the house :)
The pearls were my push present from Jason. If she is nice to me I will pass them along to her on her wedding day.

Carter started sleeping through the night about two weeks ago. This makes for a much happier and rested mommy!

Random Stuff...

Look who is one month old (actually she is now six weeks)...

We've been going to a lot of birthday parties lately. We had so much fun at our friend Preston's building party:
I have been doing a little sewing. I made a Bijorn cover which is going to come in handy considering how much Carter loves the Bijorn
We have a very active four year old on our hands

And a sleepy six week old
And one tired mommy!

Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas again this year. The weeks leading up to Christmas are my absolute favorite and I go through a slight depression on Christmas Day night when I realize I have to wait a whole year for Christmas to come again!  Jason and I stayed up a little later than normal on Christmas Eve so we could soak it all in--I really feel like a parent on Christmas Eve.

We headed to the children's service at our church. It is a really fun and LOUD service. There are kids all over the church so you don't feel so bad when you look over and see your son wrestling in the pew with his buddy (true story-I look over and Davis and his friend were putting each other in headlocks)!

We brought our little angel with us and she slept through the majority of the service.

 Christmas jammies:
Growing up we had a tradition at my house. The 12 nights leading up to Christmas you got to open a box and inside was a suprise. It might direct you to look under your bed for m&ms or tell you about some family event we would do together. We have continued that tradition with Davis. We did all kinds of fun things this holiday season including looking at lights, ice skating, ornament making and reading Christmas books. It really added to the season.
 Papa and Carter

We hosted Christmas Day at our house. Here is some of the craziness:

For some reason there are no pictures of the other side of the room--sorry guys!

Here is our fireplace this year--it looks complete!

Grammy made Carter her first quilt. It is even prettier in person
And Aunt Lo being Aunt Lo spoiled Carter with her first doll house. You can tell that Carter is totally pumped about this gift! It is awesome-Lo's talents never cease to amaze me. The house is a replica of ours right down to the same exterior paint color....
Here is our second adventure out to look at Christmas lights. The night started with one screaming and one wanting the other to be quiet...
And before we could even get into the neighborhood....
Luckily by that point both kids were asleep so Jason and I enjoyed looking at lights together!

Hope you had a Merry Christmas!

Davis meets Carter

Thank to Stephanie from /http://www.simplycharmedphotography.com/ we got some wonderful pictures of Davis meeting his baby sister for the first time.  When Jason brought Davis he initially didn't want to hold her or kiss her-he was pretty timid. But after a minute he warmed up and then could not get enough of his sister.  He and Jason returned to the waiting room to get the grandparents and when they asked if she was pretty he responded "she is beautiful, just like my mommy!" Smart boy :) He was so proud of the bracelet he received from one of the nurses that says "big brother" and he has yet to take it off. When he returned to school he took Jason's iphone and walked it around to each of his friends to show them pictures of his new baby sister! He is a proud big brother.

More hospital pics to follow!
