2 months old!

I cannot believe my little man is already two months old!! Where is the time going? This month we have had one BIG milestone:
I smile! Here is the tail end of a smile. I was changing his diaper early, early in the morning thinking how tired I was when Davis looked up at me--I started singing to him and he smiled at me! Suddenly I forgot just how tired I was--since then Jason and I have made it our mission in life to make him smile.

Davis' two month birthday was on Valentine's Day. He sported this awesome onesie to show the world who his Valentine is, mommy. Jason had him deliver me a Valentine wearing this--it was too cute. Davis had his two month check up on Friday--Dr. Lange said "He is thriving!" He now weighs almost 11 pounds (he weighed 10 pounds 15 ounces) and was nearly 22 inches long. He is actually pretty small for his age but he has started to outgrow some of his onsies-not in the length but in the tummy. I am pretty sure this is the only time in life when everyone gets excited that you are gaining weight and chubby.

We had a quiet Valentine's weekend as Davis was running his first fever and had a slight cold. So the three of us enjoyed a quiet weekend at home watching the Olympics. Sunday we stayed in our PJs all day--and ate donuts and read the paper in bed. Someday very soon Davis won't enjoy being that lazy but it was the perfect Valentine's day for our family of three. Two weeks ago we ventured to San Antonio...I will post those pictures soon. Davis had a blast on his first road trip and had a ball hanging out with Grammy and Papa. Hopefully, they will come for a visit soon.

Happy Birthday to the love of my life!

Yesterday was Jason's birthday--the big 29! We celebrated by having a golf-themed dinner party. Nana and Papa K were nice enough to watch Davis for the night--so we got a great night's sleep! But, man did we miss our little guy! Here are some pictures of the table:

Golf Themed Cupcakes! Not sure if you can tell but there are golf balls in the bottom of the floral arrangments. My friend Lauren was nice enough to help me find the green themed plates and golf napkins!

Happy Birthday Jason--you deserve it!

My uncles introduced me to Miley....

Hey All!

It's Davis here--bringing you my first dance video. Mom and dad took me to San Marcos a few months back (in mom's tummy). I hung out with Uncle Chris and Uncle Derek. Uncle Chris told me that if I want to get in good with the ladies I need to learn to dance to Miley Cyrus--just like he does. SO thanks Uncle Chris,

Love Davis

One Month Old!

Yesterday Davis turned one month old! What a fun/crazy month it has been! We are learning how to operate on little to no sleep. Luckily, Grammy came to visit this week and has been helping out with all the night feedings--it has been so nice to sleep!

Davis loves bath time! He has been known to fall asleep during bath time. His tub has a little net that we set him in and he just sits back and enjoys spa time.

One month old picture--he has moments when he is just so wide awake. He will just let us set him down to chill out. He will move his arms and legs constantly. However, if he does not want you to sit him down he will let you know. He is a very, very cuddly baby. Davis loves to sleep on his tummy and would sleep on my chest all day and all night if I would let him. He CONSTANTLY gets the hiccups--it is so cute until its 4 am and he cannot go to sleep because he keeps himself up hiccuping!

Top Ten of the Past Decade

Happy New Year's! We had such an exciting night at the Knecht household--it was a change from year's past! We stayed at home and enjoyed a nice steak. At one point I was feeding Davis and Jason was feeding me--we rang in the NY with a little boy crying next to our bed and I would not have it any other way! It was perfect.

Here are my highlights from the last decade:

1. Marrying the love of my life and soulmate
2. Having Davis
3. Being pregnant
4. passing the bar
5. getting a job at the DA's office
6. buying our first home
7. graduating from Southwestern
8. moving to Houston in my first adult apartment
9. trying a murder, intox manslaughter and manslaughter all in one year
10. finding our church and Sunday School class

Here is to the next ten years--I cannot wait to see what it has in store for our family!

December 14, 2009

The second best day of my life (aside from my wedding day) was December 14, 2009. At 8:56 am I met the newest addition to the Knecht family--my son, Davis Parker Knecht.
We worked so hard the weekend before to get everything in order for his arrival. I actually slept pretty good Sunday night because I told myself that it would probably be the last good nights sleep I would get for awhile! We arrived at the hospital around 6am and it was pretty surreal, we picked up the phone to the entrance of the maternity ward and Jason said "We are here to have our baby!"
We were settled in our room and had to just sit there waiting for our Dr. to arrive. The anestheologist was very nice--he came in to check on me and I kept telling him "I am so nervous, I am so nervous!" About 8am they took us back to the operating room. Jason put on his spacesuit and I got my cool looking hat. They took me back into the operating room and gave me my epidural, which was a piece of cake. Within about 15 seconds I could no longer feel my feet. Jason entertained me the entire time by dancing outside the doorway.
Then Dr. Peakes told Jason to enter the OR with her--he came and sat by my head and the fun began! I kept telling Jason "talk to me!" so that I would not think about what was going on on the other side of the curtain. Then Dr. Peakes told Jason "Okay Jason he is about to come out, if you want to see" Jason stood up and I could tell by his reaction that Davis Parker Knecht had arrived! Jason kept looking at him then looking back and me and saying "he's beautiful! he looks so amazing!"
I heard the most perfect cry--it was not even real crying. Then I saw the nurse take this baby across the room and start cleaning him off-then hand him to Jason. Jason approached me with the most perfect baby! Immediatly I recognized the dimple in his chin to match his daddys! Both Jason and I were in tears--it is a moment that I cannot articulate in words. The feeling I had hearing my son cry and then seeing him for the first time is indescribable. It was overwhelming and amazing.
I did not get to hold him right away--instead had to go to recovery--but then they sent me back to my room where I called the nursery and they brought me my son...I cried, shocking I know, as I held my perfect angel for the first time.

Tears of joy!

The nice anesthologist took our picture!

Perfection

The hospital stay was great-we had nice nurses, a great doctor and actually really great food. The nursery staff thought I was half nuts though--the first night at around 3 am I called the nursery and asked them to bring me my son--the nurse said "he is sound asleep!" but I did not care. I missed him and wanted to see him again. They wheeled him in and I started crying again--I can't believe that he is ours and that we get to keep him!
Thank you GOD for this seven pound four ounce blessing!
