Davis turns 6

My sweet boy turned six last week. I am not sure how it is possible that my baby is already six.

Davis is an amazing kid. He has a zeal for life that is contagious. He is happy from the moment he wakes to the moment he goes to sleep. He is an amazing big brother to his sister. He gets his feelings seriously hurt when she won't give him a good morning hug or does something mean to him.

He is still a talker. If something exciting will be going on he will wake up talking about it. Every so often he will crawl up on the couch and watch the Today show with me--it's hilarious to me because he talks through the entire show!!

Davis loves:

Using his imagination. He loves all things imagination and will spend a lot of time playing on his own with his swords, Star Wars Masks, figurines, etc. He loves to play with anything that allows him to use his imagination.

He loves his little sister. He takes his job of big brother seriously. When one of his friends talked about doing something to Carter, my normally levelheaded Davis went nuts on the kid.

He loves playing sword fights or football with Jason. He is constantly begging Jason to wrestle with him. He loves his dad. He will often sneak into our bed. He gets SO MAD if he wakes up and Jason is already up and out. He is still a huge cuddle bug and would move into our bed if we would let him!

He loves playing with the neighbor kids. He loves to go out front in the cul de sac and play with any of the neighborhood kids. He is especially fond of a little boy that lives across the street and a little girl that lives  few houses away.

Davis loves his grandparents. I can't say I blame him because they all love him just as much. He loves to go to Nana and Papa's and have slumber parties.

Davis loves his friends. He loves to have play dates with his buddies.

Davis enjoys sports but loves the social aspect of them more. Davis doesn't care if his team wins or looses he just wants to be out there with all of his buddies having a good time.

Davis is sensitive. I mentioned that I would really like a curling iron but that the one I wanted was expensive. He said "mommy, when I get a job I will buy it for you."
My dad told me that a few weeks before Christmas he pulled Davis aside and asked him if he had gotten me a Christmas present yet. My dad said this very upset look came on his face and he told my dad he had not and did not know what to get me. My dad told him that he had found something for Davis to give to me and that Davis was so thrilled he leaned in and kissed my dad on the cheek and said "thank you Papa!" and looked so relieved.

For his birthday this year Davis really wanted to have a ninja party (like American Ninja warrior). We invited his school buddies and had a blast jumping and doing all things ninja!

We started off his birthday by having the whole family walk him to school.
Davis got a special basketball shirt to wear on his birthday. He will be playing basketball in January so he was SUPER excited about his new shirt.

Grammy, Papa, Mommy and Daddy all surprised Davis with Whataburger for lunch!

After school we headed to the birthday party!

I made all the kids ninja headbands:

Nana had just as much fun as all the kids!

Happy birthday to my love bug, my little pumpkin, my angel...my Davis!

Carter (officially) turns two!

When I first found out Jason and I were having a girl I was elated. I could not wait to take her shopping for dolls and all things girly. God granted me my wish for a girly girl.

Carter is:

Into babies. Loves her baby dolls (all named baby Jack) and her babies always need to have a new diaper or be cleaned with a wipe--we go through tons of wipes due to her desire to keep her babies clean. Her babies also never have clothes on-it does not matter how many times I redress her babies she loves to take their clothes off and carry them around naked. She loves saying "bye, mommy!" and taking her babies for a stroll in the stroller while holding her purse.

Carter loves shoes. Loves shoes. Loves it when I put on a pretty pair of shoes or a bow and will immediately say "daddy?" She wants to show daddy whatever pretty thing she has on. Jason always makes a big deal about the shoes, dress, bow, necklace, etc.

Loves her bubba. She thinks Davis hung the moon. When I pick her up from school she always says "bubba?" or "where did bubba go?" and we have to go find Davis and pick him up.

Loves to say "where did mommy go?" or "where did daddy go" when we leave the room. Also, loves to say "Carter's turn" whenever we are playing a game.

Loves water. If we turn the sink on I can pretty much guarantee it will be followed by the sound of Carter slamming the stool down so that she can crawl up and help wash dishes and play in the water.

Loves to be busy. Gets into everything. Is constantly pulling stuff out, finding ways to pull things out of drawers, out of furniture, etc. Constant.

Loves to help daddy with his coffee in the morning. Will walk over automatically and pull out the spoon so that she can help him stir his coffee.

Loves waffles. Has to be the one to get the waffles out of the freezer, out of the box and push them down into the toaster.

She is saying all kinds of things including:

I did it!
Carter's turn
Where did mommy go?
Regis! Eat Regis! (neighbor's cat)
Singing "Let it Go!"
I do it.
No bubba!

Carter is fiercely independent, very sassy and very stubborn but she is also loving, happy and energetic!

For this girl's second birthday we took her to the American Girl Doll store with her grandparents. I was concerned that maybe we were jumping the gun with this but we were not! She LOVED it. I mean this was her version of a perfect day--dolls and food with her parents, brother and grandparents. Davis was so sweet to Carter. He would go and pull things off the shelf and bring them to her to see if that is what she wanted for her birthday.

Jason showed Carter three dolls and let her pick which one she wanted. She picked all three! Jason is a softie but he put his foot down and made her pick one! We went with the bitty baby and it has been a huge hit. We have named our baby "Jack" and love to carry naked Jack with us around the house.

Happy birthday to our Carter Elizabeth!

Jack Bear

My nephew, Jack Bear Peden, graced us with his arrival in early November. It was such a fun day (for everyone but Lauren) and we were all so excited and anxious to meet little Jack. Scott called me at around 5 am and informed me that Lauren's water had broke. I rushed to the hospital and waited FOREVER for Jack to arrive. My scheduled c-sections looked better and better after waiting ALL DAY for Jack to arrive.

He finally joined us around 5pm. I could not wait to get my hands on him. My brother and Lauren were nice enough to say that because I made it to the hospital first, I got the honor of holding him first!

Carter's Party and Halloween

I am playing catch up-I am not sure where the year went. We had a great time celebrating Carter turning two. We shared a party with Carter's BFF Hadley. It worked out great-we did a trunk or treat and invited friends over to celebrate these to crazy girls.

We had a Dallas Cowboy football player and a Dallas Cowboy's Cheerleader for Halloween.

We trick or treated with our neighbors again this year. This might possibly be my favorite night to live in our neighborhood. There are TONS of kids and we hire a food truck. It is so much fun and always kicks off the start of such a fun season...
