October

I failed at updating the blog for most of October which is sad because we had such a great month! 

I love Pinterest. I love craft ideas, sewing ideas and I need all the help I can get with food ideas. 

I found a recipe for zucchini chips. Jason helped me out and they were DELICIOUS. I probably could have eaten the whole pan. 

 I also saw this cute mat for driving cars and copied it:

 We visited the pumpkin patch at church. It did not go so well and after a few meltdowns these are the best we got:

 I have designated one Friday afternoon a month Mommy/Davis afternoon. I picked Davis up from school early and took him to McDonalds. We ate chicken nuggets, french fries, and shared a milk shake. Then we played on the playground together. After that we headed to Barnes and Noble to read books and play with toys. This was my milkshake buddy:

 One Saturday we headed to the Children's Museum to enjoy their fall festivities. Here is Davis making a slimy worm:

 Slept in (ha, yeah right). As wonderful as Davis is he has become a terrible sleeper. I can't remember the last time he didn't end up in our bed at night (yes, save the lecture. I get it, a toddler should not be in your bed. But I am weak at 3 am). He tosses and turns and I usually end up with a hand in my face or a foot kicking me in the side. But when you wake up to this it is hard to be mad:

 Last weekend we headed to San Antonio to spend some time with Grammy & Papa while J played in a golf tournament. We started the trip off with Mickey Mouse and McDonalds:

 Saturday morning I asked Davis "Kitty Park or the Zoo?" I don't know why I even asked. I knew he would pick KP. He LOVES KP and I really think it is because he is the perfect age for it. He can ride every single ride including the school bus:

 We also got to spend time with Mamo. Davis loves Mamo and enjoyed having Mamo read to him. Can you believe she is about to be 92? I hope I look that great when I am about to be 92!

 And I got to spend time loving on my Ladybug! I miss her but she is so happy in San Antonio. She is so spoiled--she had bacon for breakfast and my mom grilled up a hamburger for her dinner-sheesh!

October was a very fun/busy month and we can't wait for November!

Girl's Trip

We made it back from our annual girl's trip. We had a blast! Mom and I really enjoyed Linda and Lauren joining us on our trip. We did a lot of shopping, eating and more shopping.

These pictures are a little bit out of order. We took a food tour of Chelsea/Meatpacking District this trip.  It was really interesting to learn about the area and how much it has grown just over the last few years. Here we are at the last stop on the tour:

 The first night we were there we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and had pizza in Brooklyn--it is something I have always wanted to do and has been on my "bucket list." It was worth the walk-the views were incredible at night and the pizza was really good.

Proud Parenting Moment

Somehow Jason and I were suckered into teaching the 2 year old class at church. I thought that this sounded like a good idea on the phone. A nice lady from the church called and asked me if we could help and that it would be "easy." Hmmm, last week was our first Sunday to teach and let me assure you, it was NOT easy. I was so exhausted after chasing around twenty plus two year olds that I took a two hour nap along with Davis. 

This Sunday seemed a little easier (still not EASY). It is very interesting to observe these little people with budding personalities already. 

Today during snack time Davis sat next to his friend, Ellen. Ellen's mommy and daddy got suckered into teaching this class with us :) Well, during snack time we had a proud parenting moment (not). The third little girl held up her glass of water and said "Cheers!" and Davis and Ellen, without hesitation, held their glasses up and both said "Cheers!" Ellen's mommy and I were glad that we were the teachers at that moment so that no other parent could judge! I mean, I am certain that I just caught a glimpse of the three of them at a college party eighteen years from now. To make matters worse they did it again-this time MY SON is the one who started it:

In all seriousness, I am honored to teach my little man's class. He is the light of my life and I pray that somehow Jason and I can influence him to love the Lord as much as we do.

Updates

I thought that today would be a great day to update the blog--it hurts to move. I asked Jason to help me get back in shape (BIG MISTAKE). Yesterday at 4:30 in the morning I was on a random football field doing bootcamp. Today it hurts to move. 

We learned the Studio Movie Grill does a $2 movie on Saturdays geared towards kids. So we took Davis to see his new obsession Thomas the Train. After a lemonade and half a bucket of popcorn we went from this:

 Funny thing was Jason and I didn't feel like we could get up and walk out without causing a scene. So we had to stick it out to the very end!

From the movie we headed to Victoria to celebrate my brother-in-law and sister-in-law's engagement. Lacey grew up in Victoria with horses. Davis LOVED Lacey's house:

 Nana might be a little guilty of spoiling Davis. I walked in one Saturday morning to find Elmo playing and Davis' table and chair facing it with homemade waffles. Poor guy is in for a rude awakening when we get into our new house!

 Although, I guess I am just as guilty of spoiling my baby....

I am off to take a hot bath and down some advil....

Davis

Davis has been saying all sorts of things lately and I keep thinking "I need to document this!" So for myself here goes:

The other night at the dinner table we were getting ready to say our prayer. Normally, I say the first few words and then he copies me until we are done. Well, he started the prayer and said it WORD FOR WORD without having to have me say it to him first. We all nearly fell over! 

He loves to grab his books now and "read" them to me. 

If I wait too long to get him from his nap or in the morning I hear "Mommy, mommy come get me, mommy?"

"One more minute mommy" usually in reference to the playground at Chick Fil A

If we ask a question like "Who wants to ride the train" he responds "Me! I do!" always says both :)

Jason was driving with Davis in the backseat. Jason sneezed and heard Davis "bless you Daddy, bless you!"

The minute Davis gets in the car he says "Elmo please daddy!" and if it is not loud enough he will say "turn it ON" to which we will say no, what do you say and he will respond "turn it UP please"

I tried to get him out of his chair to take him to school one morning "Mommy, I'm not finished!"

Hunt, Texas 2012

We made our way down to Hunt, Texas for our second annual trip to the river. The Texas Hill Country is my happy place! As soon as we hit the hills outside of San Antonio I can immediately feel my stress level decreasing. We had the best time once again and felt so blessed to be there with such great friends. 

We go with no plans and spend time swimming in the river, fishing, eating and just playing around.

 Saturday night we headed to Crider's for dinner and the rodeo. Unfortunately, the rodeo got rained out but we got dinner and some running around before the rain hit:
