How do you say?

Davis has had a rough week. He was sick all week and missed an entire week of school. Nothing adds to mom guilt like leaving your sick baby with someone else. Friday I took the day off to be with my little monster. It was such a great day-we had lots of mommy/Davis time.

Davis is really starting to add to his vocabulary.

Here we are practicing....

Elmo! Elmo! Elmo! Elmo! Elmo!

This weekend we headed to Grammy and Papa's house. Davis had a blast! We spent a lot of time out in the front yard playing--he loves the tunnel Papa bought him!

Saturday we headed over to SeaWorld. They have a whole Sesame Street area. Davis is so into Elmo-he was delighted. When Elmo walked out on stage he was ENAMORED. His eyes never left the stage. Here is Davis with Jason trying to get front stage to say hi to Elmo!
Mom and Davis waving to cookie monster!
They have a Sesame Street water park. It was SO hot, so heading over to the splash pad was fantastic. The water was refreshing and Davis had a great time crawling through the tunnel. However, he continued to say "Elmo?" over and over. So this mom went on a mission. I located Elmo backstage and took Davis to meet him. Davis would blow him a kiss but when Elmo tried to high five him he crawled over my shoulder! He was great with Elmo at a safe distance!
Grover got a little too close....
Papa thought Davis needed a toy. If it is not one Papa spoiling him it's the other one!
Group shot:
Davis was asleep in his stroller before we made it to the car!

Davis also had fun hanging out with Uncle Bubs. Poor Uncle Bubs had to sleep on the futon. He asked my mom for a blanket and this is what she brought him:
We laughed really hard at that one.

My dad and I had a blast playing one on one. I beat him. Since this is my blog he has no way of disputing that!
It was just like old times. I cannot tell you how many games we played in the driveway...
We loved our time in San Antonio and cannot wait to go back!

Weekend at Nana and Papa's House

Jason headed out of town this weekend so Davis and I headed to Nana and Papa's for the weekend. To say that they spoil Davis is a bit of an understatement. It is no wonder that he woke up both mornings saying "Nana? Papa?"

Davis is OBSESSED with lawnmowers. He loves them. He repeats the word a million times a day and is very happy when you repeat it back to him. Saturday morning we ate pancakes and then headed outside to track down the lawnmowers. Not kidding when I say he sat like this for a good twenty minutes fascinated:

Davis has grown so much. The tummy hanging out of the shirt was a pretty good indication that it was time for more clothes. So we headed out to the outlet mall Saturday to find some good bargains. Of course, someone, ahem Papa, decided Davis needed a snack. A cookie and some chocolate milk made Davis very happy:
Papa also thought to bring some quarters. No better way to entertain a toddler:
After nap time we headed to Memaw's house to swim in the pool....
It was a great weekend and a wonderful reminder of how blessed I am to have the in-laws/second parents I have. Thanks Nana and Papa for such a fun weekend!

Hunt

We took our first family vacation of the summer and headed on a road trip. We went with some other fun families and their kiddos to Hunt, Texas. I was reminded how much I love the Hill Country. We passed the turn off where I went to camp and where I was a camp counselor-it brought back a ton of great memories. We stayed in an awesome house about a 1/2 mile down the street from a place called River Inn. I grew up going to River Inn as a kid and it was really fun to show Jason and Davis the place.
I was a little concerned about the 5 hour road trip with a busy toddler. Nana and Papa came through in the clutch and gave us a travel DVD system. Here is Davis singing along to his favorite, Little Einsteins:
Before we left town I was helping Jason load the car. I set the watermelon we were taking at the top of the stairs. Apparently, it makes a great seat:
We discovered a wagon our first day at the house. Davis went on a thousand wagon rides! Here he is with all of his friends, a group of friends I know he will have a thousand great memories with:
We headed over to Crider's Saturday night for hamburgers and the local rodeo:

Can we go swim now mom?:
It was a wonderful weekend and we cannot wait for next summer! It was the start of a fantastic tradition!

I love my grandmothers!

The guys headed to Vegas this week so we had a girls plus Davis weekend. On Friday both grandmothers accompanied Davis and I to the pediatrician's office for 18 month check up. Davis is in the 25th percentile for weight and 35th for height and 90th for head circumference!

On Saturday we headed to the zoo:

It was a great weekend with the grandmothers!

Summer Fun!

We headed to see the Red Sox take on the Astros this weekend. In our family if you don't like baseball (well, sports for that matter) you get kicked out. I am not kidding. I cannot tell you how many baseball stadiums I have been to. I am really attached to Davis and don't want him to get kicked out so I am making sure he gets his love of sports early. We headed to watch the Astros take on the Red Sox this weekend:How cute is his hat?!
It is way too hot here. Seriously, I think the months of July and August should just be taken off the calendar. In an attempt to beat the heat we walked up to the store the other night and got some ice cream:
I am hoping to take all the money that I am saving for Davis' college and go to Europe for the summer. Thus, we have been working on Davis' short game:
Davis' school has all kinds of fun summer activities. Last week was "crazy hair day."

Happy 4th!

You know in life when you cross paths with people and you think "is there anything they cannot do, and do perfectly?!" That is my friend Lauren. Lauren can do ANYTHING and everything she does is amazing. Not only is she my brother's girlfriend but I am lucky enough to call her my friend--everyone should be so blessed to have a friend like Lauren. Yesterday was her birthday but we are celebrating today. I hope she had the best day (we got to spend part of it with her) because she deserves it. Here are Davis and Lauren at the splash pad:Grammy and Papa are in town for the weekend to celebrate the 4th. We showed them our Saturday morning tradition. Breakfast, zoo and splash pad. We love the splash pad in Hermann park, it is a perfect way to end a trip to the zoo:

As you know, Davis LOVES the carousel. A Saturday morning trip to the zoo would not be complete without a couple of rides. Davis and Papa:

We are headed to see the Astros take on the Red Sox today. Then Humble to celebrate Lauren.

We wish you a Happy 4th and are thankful for the sacrifice of our military (shout out to Uncle Chris)...
