Welcome to the Church!

This was a big weekend for little Davis. He was baptized on Sunday at St. Luke's. Dr. Pace did the baptism and it was a joyous occasion. I have never really thought about being baptized and the importance of it until the pastor was holding my son and asking Jason and I if we would raise him in the church and instill in him the value of being a christian! What a responsibility!

Davis wore the outfit that Jason wore when he was a baby coming home from the hospital. It was a little snug but he looked so cute:
He was so good during the ceremony--never even flinched. He fell asleep in my arms on the way back to our pew!! And he slept that way for the rest of church! A little girl was baptized at the same time--and Dr. Pace took Davis over to her and said "Look, isn't she pretty?!" and he made the comment that he had never gotten to marry two babies who were baptized on the same day but wouldn't that be neat! Anyway, back on topic...here is a picture of my grandmother, mom and I--all 30 years apart (nearly).

It was a great weekend from start to finish. Friday night we celebrated mom's birthday and Saturday the guys played golf while the women shopped. And of course Sunday we celebrated the first of many milestones in our little man's life.

4 Months Old!

The Lovebug is 4 months old! Time flies when you are finally sleeping :) This month we have learned how to sleep through the night--and it has been fabulous! About two weeks ago Davis started going down around 7:30 and sleeping until around 6ish. We are SO happy. He now weighs 14 pounds 13 ounces and 24 1/2 inches long. He is in the 5oth percentile for his weight and head but in the 35th for heighth. This month we are very close to rolling over. He has really started to grab at things and pull them close. He loves to sit in his chair (see fuzzy photo) every morning while we get ready. I know someday I will really miss having him entertain us while we get ready for work. We are looking forward to this weekend--our family comes in town for Davis' baptism. Should be fun!

Happy Easter! He is Risen!

We made the most of our long weekend by working! We worked so hard to get our terrace back in shape along with several other house projects (that's another post). We had a wonderful Easter Sunday with church at Bear Creek and brunch at the club with family. Davis took the obligatory bluebonnet pictures that every Texas kid is required to take. I vote every weekend should be a 3 day weekend! A slight meltdown:

3 Months!!!

It has been a fun 3 months! Davis has really enjoyed school and his teachers have all commented on what a good baby he is! He has already proved himself to be an artist (please see his first piece of artwork below). Today he went to the Dr. after mom got a call at work that Davis was running a fever--the good news is it's only a cold. The better news is that we got to weigh him and he now weighs 13 pounds! I am pretty sure that ten of it is in his cheeks! Davis still loves bath time:

He loves cheering on the SPURS:

His first creation which Jason promptly framed:

Because he is too young to go to McDonalds after a Dr's visit--we did the next best thing. We put together his new Jeep. As you can tell by his expression, he liked it better than french fries:

He is still a cuddle bug:

And has already visited the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo:

School

Davis started school this week--as you can tell from the video it was much easier for him then it was for mom. Luckily, dad dropped him off and picked him up. The Friday before mom went with Davis to meet his teacher and cried the whole visit. So Monday morning Davis requested that dad take him to school so mom would not further embarass him in front of his new friends. He had a huge first week--he did tummy time, read books, played with toys and created his first piece of art work. I will post a picture of it in an upcoming post--ironically, it is of ladybugs (his big sister was so proud)!

Enjoy the video of Davis monster's first day of school!

Lent

Today Davis attended his first church service. We met Jason this morning at church for the Ash Wednesday service.
I learned something--did you know that the ashes in biblical times were placed on a persons head who was in mourning? Now, we place the ashes on our forehead because we are in mourning over our sin. The preacher placed the ashes on my forehead and stated "Repent and Spread the Good News!"

I love that. I love reminders from GOD that he sent Christ to die for a screw up like me--so that I can repent and spread the good news. I guess GOD knows that I need constant reminders that I am worth saving.

So what are you giving up for LENT? Last year I gave up shopping--it was tough. This year I am giving up negativity. I know that is a totally broad thing to give up--but I want to focus especially hard the next 4o days on just how much GOD blesses me on a daily basis.
